New Cross Hospital Maternity Unit

The maternity unit at New Cross Hospital is a maternity team within the largest teaching hospital in the country. It is part of the Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust.

Since January 2010, the maternity team has been offering hypnosis sessions to reduce pain and stress during labour, an initiative recognised by the Royal College of Midwives.

Earlier in 2011, it won the Black Country Innovations Award for this service and was shortlisted for the Royal College of Midwives Awards for supporting normality in childbirth.

It has also received a Maternity Services Award from the All Party Parliamentary Group on Maternity for its water birthing pool.
