Good Hope Maternity Unit

The unit aims to maintain the balance between midwife-led care and the involvement of obstetric specialists. A midwife is the lead professional if women are at low risk. Any women with high-risk pregnancies are under the care of a consultant obstetrician, but shared by the hospital-based midwife team and GP.

The hospital offers choice over where and how to give birth to give a more flexible, responsive and accessible maternity service. The maternity wards are a modern design of three- two- and single- bedded rooms. High quality active birth facilities are available on the delivery suite, including full water birth and antenatal assessment unit facilities.
