Breaking the silence - an NHS local blog on mental health

17:19, Thursday 10 February

We are delighted to welcome journalist Linda Jones to the blogging team at NHS local with her award-winning posts on mental health.

Linda set up the Breaking the Silence blog in May 2010 as a way of speaking out about mental illness.

The blog has covered subjects like depression, self-harm, schizophrenia and psychosis and has included posts by people who have experienced these conditions as well as health professionals and journalists.

What's more, earlier this year it won a Brilliance in Blogging Award for the Most Inspirational Blog.

Breaking the Silence has been described as an 'absolute lifeline' for anyone with mental health problems.

Linda is going to write about mental health for NHS local as well as for her award-winning blog in an attempt to share that lifeline with a wider audience.

Welcome Linda and welcome to all of you who care about mental health.
